As a community-based football academy, it is our goal to not only provide top-quality training and development for our players, but also to educate and inform the community on the numerous benefits of football.
Setia Football Academy produce weekly newsletters, videos, and social media content that highlights the positive impact of football on a child's development and future opportunities.
We believe that through our efforts, we can help parents understand the value of this sport and inspire more young players to pursue their passions on the pitch.
Back in December 2022, Coach Bala and I started with just FOUR students. We had a simple ambition, a burning passion to make positive impact on our student’s lives.
Deep inside we knew it and could feel that we were creating something special - we wanted to be an academy that fostered character building, people connection, and growth in mindset.
Today, on March 30th 2023, we're humbled to say that we now have 28 students enrolled in our program (and counting).
We never expected to grow so fast, but we're grateful for every step of the way, these kids never fail to encourage us to keep going. Yes, we coaches need coaching too.
Like how uncle Ben reminded Peter, with growth comes responsibility (well, something along those lines), we soon realised we have so much work ahead of us, and we want to double down on our efforts.
The real aim for these kids is to not only develop their football skills, but also their empathy, resilience, and leadership when dealing with their friends, teachers and especially to those they grow up with.
We want our kids to feel seen, heard, and valued, and to know that they have a place where they belong.
It's obvious we can't do this alone. All parents and guardians have a role to play in shaping the future of our kids. Yes, each one of them are our kids!
We want to work with them, learn from them, and support them, as we build a better future for these kids, together, putting them at the centre of our intentions.
We’re so fortunate that the community around us showed us so much love and support, it gives us so much motivation to try harder, and to be bolder, go further and dream bigger.
We can build a future - a future that is inclusive, diverse, and harmonious, where differences don’t mean a thing, where respect is shown to one and another, and there’s no room for greed or envy, or at least not so much.
SFA’s culture is to make everyone feel welcomed, respected, and empowered, where learning is joy, added with football, it becomes even more beautiful.
As we move forward, SFA invites you to join us on this uphill road. Whether you're a student, a parent, a teacher, a community leader, a friend, or a naysayer, we welcome your input, your feedback, and your support.
Together, we can make a difference - one football training session at a time.
We shall, in one Spirit, grow stronger, together.
We’ll change this country’s destiny, for real!
Yours,
Coach Vetha

Football is more than just a sport; it can also be a powerful tool for building character in children. Here are a few ways in which football can help young players develop important life skills:
Teamwork: Football is a team sport that requires players to work together and support each other in order to achieve success. This can help children learn the value of teamwork and cooperation, as well as how to be a good team player.
Responsibility: Football requires players to be responsible for their own actions on and off the field. This can help children learn the importance of being reliable and accountable for their own behaviour.
Discipline: Football requires players to be disciplined in terms of their training and conditioning, as well as their behaviour on and off the field. This can help children learn self-control and the importance of following rules.
Respect: Football is a sport that requires players to respect their opponents, teammates, and coaches. This can help children learn how to respect authority and be considerate of others.
Confidence: Participating in football can help children build self-confidence and a sense of self-worth. The physical and mental challenges of the sport can help players develop a sense of accomplishment and pride in their own abilities.
Overall, football can be a powerful tool for helping children develop important character traits that will serve them well throughout their lives. It is a known fact that football stars make a lot of money ! Messi earns around USD 83mil per year (MYR 30.5mil / per month), meanwhile Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr is preparing to offer CR7 USD 208mil (MYR 76.6mil / per month), making CR7 the highest-earning footballer ever.
So where do we Malaysians rank among these elite footballers ?
It does seem unfair to compare ourselves with these elite superstars, but one proverb that comes to mind is "aim for the moon, even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." - Setia Football Academy truly believes and is planting seeds hoping someday we Malaysians can compete against these giants at the global stage, after all, Malaysia is a footballing nation.
Some Malaysians do earn decent money, for example, Amri Yahyah and Nor Azam Azih who earn around MYR 85,000 to MYR 100,000 / per month.
The world of professional football in Malaysia has seen a significant rise in salaries in recent years, with top players earning salaries that are competitive with those in other countries around the world.
The increase in salaries can be attributed to a number of factors, including the growth of the sport in Malaysia, increased investment in the local football industry, and the success of Malaysian teams in regional and international competitions.
This trend is not limited to just the top players in the country, either. Even players at the semi-professional and amateur levels are seeing an increase in salaries as the sport continues to grow in popularity and investment.
Overall, the rise in salaries for Malaysian football players is a welcome development, as it allows players to focus on their careers and training without worrying about financial issues.
It is also a sign of the growing strength and competitiveness of the Malaysian football industry on the global stage.
It is an expired assumption that Malaysian youths have no future in football. We live in a world where change is rapid, with heavy emphasis on individualism. It is wise to nurture talents rather than putting them into a box.
